Si chiude con qualche rammarico l’esperienza ai playoff dei New York Knicks per la stagione 2010/11. Sconfitti quattro volte in fila dai Boston Celtics, i Knicks hanno pagato nelle gare casalinghe anche gli infortuni a Chauncey Billups e ad Amare Stoudemire.
L’anno prossimo sono in scadenza i contratti dell’allenatore Mike D’Antoni e del GM Donnie Walsh. Nonostante i risultati altalenanti della stagione appena conclusa, molti giocatori hanno speso parole di stima per il loro allenatore.
Nelle parole di coach D’Antoni invece c’è la speranza di fare tesoro dell’esperienza di quest’anno e ripresentarsi l’anno prossimo con ambizioni e mezzi maggiori:
“Experience is something you can’t manufacture. A lot of guys…this is the first time they have played meaningful minutes in the playoffs. Whether they played good or bad this will help them and help their mindset next year. (…) One big thing, I really appreciate the fans that stood up and cheered for the guys. Again, they were in a difficult situation, have been all year, and they showed a lot of class and character and the fans showed the same thing.”
